Munroe Island is named after British official known as Colonel John Munro in old Travancore. He helped in connecting local water channels. Once flourished as a trading spot, tying coastal routes with village life, the island now has leftover homes from colonial times.

By Air:
The nearest airport to Munroe Island is Thiruvananthapuram International airport located about 80 kilometers away. From airport one can reach the island through taxi or a private car. Frequent KSRTC buses also run between Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam; from that point, autos and with ferry rides complete your journey.

By Train:
The Munroturuttu Railway Station located 3 km from the central part of the island is the nearest. This junction connects regularly to Kollam ( 25 km) Trivandrum (71 km) Ernakulam (138 km)

By Road:
Munroe Island is situated approximately 27 kilometers from Kollam along NH-66. Travel choices include state-run buses, private vehicles, and rental cars, offering convenient access to the island.
