Sree Poornathrayeesa Temple, located in Thripunithura, Ernakulam district, Kerala, is a renowned Mahavishnu temple and one of the greatest temples in the state. It holds the distinction of being the first among the eight royal temples of the erstwhile Kingdom of Cochin. The presiding deity is Vishnu, worshipped as Santhanagopala Murthy (the "saviour of infants") or Poornathrayesan. The term 'Poornathrayeesa' signifies the Lord of the Three Vedas – Rig Veda, Yajur Veda, and Sama Veda. Sree Poornathrayeesa is considered the elder brother of the deities of Chottanikkara and Pishari temples, serving as the family deity of the erstwhile Kochi dynasty as well as the protective guardian of Thripunithura. Devotees believe that praying to Santhanagopala Murthy or Poornathrayesan can bless childless couples with children.
