The Badrinath temple is one of the most visited pilgrim temples inIndia. The head priest of this temple is a Namboothiri form Kerala who does the pujas despite the fact that the temple is located to the Northern side of India.

History of Badrinath Temple?

Badrinath was where the magnificent home of Lord Shiva was located. One day Lord Shiva along with his consort Mother Parvati went for a bath and came back to find an infant child crying its heart out. Parvati instantly melted to the wails of the child and was about to pick it up when Shiva stopped her since this might not be a real baby but Maya (illusion).

But Parvati’s maternal instincts would not let her leave the child alone and she picked it up, bathed it, fed it and put it to sleep. The net day as they left for their bath and came back they found their home to be locked.

Shiva only had two options, to burn down the house or to move somewhere else. Since it was Parvati’s baby he could not harm it. Hence, he settled down ad Kedarnath. The infant baby was none other than Lord Vishnu who had tricked Lord Shiva and Parvati.

Entry/Darshan Time:

The temple is open at 4.30 am and darshan continues till 1.00 pm.

Dress Code:

No specific dress code is recommended for a visit to this temple. Still, costumes covering upper arms and legs are suggested as a mark of respect to the temple customs.

Festivals

Mata Murti ka Mela, Badri Kedar festival and the Krishna Janmashtami are the festivals that are grandly celebrated in this temple.
