Detailed Itineary

  • Day 1 : Chilaw

    Upon your arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport, our representative will receive you and assist for your onward journey to Chilaw, a large town located at a distance of 60km. After reaching Chilaw, visit the Muneeshwaram temple and the Mannavari temple. Legends claim that Lord Rama, the epicentre of the great Hindu epic Ramayana has installed the Lings idols in these temples and worshipped. After visiting the temples, proceed to the hotel and rest of the day is at your leisure.
    Overnight stay at Chilaw.

  • Day 2 : Chilaw - Sigiriya - Ritigala - Chilaw

    After taking the breakfast in the hotel, proceed to Sigiriya. Check into the hotel and relax for some time. Later, proceed to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site Sigiriya Rock Fortress, built in the 5th century. Visit the Water Gardens, Fountain Gardens, Summer Houses, Boulder Gardens and Caves within the fort. Also visit Ritigala, popular for the medicinal herbs prevailing around in a crest, which is believed to have fallen from the hands of Lord Anjaneya, when he was flying carrying the Sanjeevani Mountain.
    Return to hotel and Overnight stay at Sigiriya.

  • Day 3 : Sigiriya - Trincomalae

    Post breakfast, start your drive to Trincomalae. Visit Tirukoneswaram temple, popular from the legends that Lord Rama has worshipped here. Also visit the Patira Kali Amman temple and Shankari Shakthi Peeth. After lunch at a local restaurant, return to Sigiriya and rest of the day is at your leisure.
    Overnight stay at Pasikuda.

  • Day 4 : Sigiriya - Kandy

    After breakfast at hotel, proceed to Kandy which is at a distance of 90kms from Sigiriya. Check into the hotel. After relaxing for some time, start your city tour of Kandy which includes Upper Lake Drive, Market square. Also visit the popular temple of Buddha’s Sacred Tooth Relic. Return to hotel for lunch and relax. Later in the evening, visit the Gem Museum and enjoy the cultural show at Kandy.
    Overnight stay at Kandy.

  • Day 5 : Arugambay To Ella

    Start after breakfast at the hotel and proceed to Nuwara Eliya. En route visit the Baktha Hanuman temple at Ramboda. Continue your journey to Nuwara Eliya and check into the hotel. Later in the evening, visit Seetha Amman temple, probably the only temple in the world dedicated to Goddess Seetha, the heroine of the Hindu epic Ramayana. Return to hotel and relax.

  • Day 6 : Nuwara Eliya - Ashokwatika - Welimada - Nuwara Eliya

    This day starts for a day excursion. Proceed to Ashokwatika which is also called as Hakgala Botanical Garden. This garden has a strong connectivity with Ramayana. Lord Anjaneya met Goddess Seetha who was captivated by the demon king Ravan in this Garden, as this had been his favourite location. Further drive for another hour to reach Welimada where you find the Sthripura cave and Manabharana waterfalls. Explore through the historic areas like Ravan Cave and Ravan Falls at Ella and start your return journey to the hotel.

  • Day 7 : Nuwara Eliya - Colombo

    After the breakfast at hotel, start your drive to Colombo which will take approximately Five hours. Check into the hotel and relax. Later in the evening, visit the Kelaniay temple, dedicated to Vibhishana, an important character portrayed in Ramayana and also visit the Anjaneyar temple. After visiting the temples, you can do a city tour of Colombo and do shopping. Return to hotel.

  • Day 8 : Departure

    Post breakfast proceed to Airport to board the flight as per your Departure schedule.

FAQ

These temples are associated with the Hindu epic Ramayana, wherein Lord Rama installed and worshiped Shiva Lingas as a penance after the war with Ravana.

The Thirukoneswaram Temple in Trincomalee is considered one of the places where Lord Rama worshipped Lord Shiva, which adds much spiritual value for the fans of Ramayana.

Kandy provides a number of attractions, including the revered Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Buddha, the Gem Museum, and a vibrant cultural show, hence highlighting Sri Lanka's rich heritage and spirituality.

In Colombo, visitors look at the Kelaniya Temple, devoted to the important character of the Ramayana, Vibhishana, and Anjaneyar Temple. The city tour and shopping are other attractions.

It is this landmark of Ramayana that has been believed to be the place where Lord Hanuman met Goddess Sita when she was being kept captive. The garden is also known for its exotic flora and serene ambiance.
