Sikh Pilgrimage
India is a blend of more than many religions. This is the only place where people related to all four major religions including- Hinduism, Christianity, Islam, Sikhism and other Jainism, Buddhism etc live and worship their own deities under one roof. As far as Sikhism is concerned, this is one of the 5th largest religions in the whole world that was founded by Guru Nanak Dev along with the nine other Gurus.
Devotees belong to Sikh community have great faith on this religion. The work Sikhism named after Sikh that comes from the Sanskrit term Sisya which means disciples. The community of Sikhs occupies a significant place not even in India but across the world there are 23 million Sikhs all across the world where the 75% of Sikhs live in Indian state Punjab and large communities of Sikhs can be found in India.
To conduct their Ardas (Pooja) Sikhs visit Gurudwaras that is the worship place of all Sikh people. There are numerous Gurudwaras across the world including India where Sikhs visit to worship with folded hands. As they have immense faith in their religion, you can find them in big numbers in all Gurudwaras to attain the peace of mind as well as soul and their journey to these Gurudwaras is termed as the Sikh Pilgrimage.
Guru Gobind Singh is the penultimate and tenth Sikh guru who meditated for many years in the tranquil banks of Hemkund and finally left his heavenly body on this earth. To pay homage to the great saint, the star-shaped Gurudwara at a height of 4,000 meter was built at his burial place.
