The monastery is shrouded by a peaceful, calm and serene atmosphere. This monument was established in the year of 1963 by the Palyul lineage’s 11th throne holder. Initially the monument was carved from the bamboo trees of the jungle that was given to the Tibetian exiles by the Indian government and was entirely made up of bamboo.

This monastery has been the travel destination of many owing to its scenic surroundings that feel as if existing in an entirely different world. The inside of the monastery is occupied by three large sculptures coated in golden color. This gives this place the name of Golden temple.

The monument is an awe inspiring structure that houses a library, temple and rooms for the monks who study there to occupy. A visit to the Namdroling monastery is usually a half a day tour, filling the visitor with a sense of peace and calmness.
