Karnataka is a vast and varied state and a full tour of this part of India could take easily 3 weeks and still not cover everything. This itinerary focuses on the scenic hills and wildlife in the southern part of the state.


Detailed Itineary

  • Day 1 : Bangalore - Mysore

    On arrival in Bangalore, you will be met and introduced to your driver. Have a meal near the airport, or depart immediately to Mysore, a journey of around 4 hours. Depending on your arrival time into Mysore you may have time for some sightseeing or just a walk in the city’s diverse markets in the afternoon. Overnight in Mysore.(Make sure for an early arrival to Bangalore).

  • Day 2 : Mysore

    Start your day with an excursion to the intricately carved Hoysala-dynasty temple at Somnathpur, dating from the 12th century CE. Then proceed for the sightseeing tour of Mysore city. Historic Mysore is unquestionably one of the most interesting cities in South India and a half-day tour here can include some of the highlights- Mysore Palace, Chamundi Hill with its vibrant temple, and the famous Devaraja fruit and vegetable markets.Overnight in Mysore.

  • Day 3 : Mysore - Coorg

    After breakfast drive to Coorg, a lushly forested region in the hills of southern Karnataka. En-route, stop at Bylakuppe, the second largest Tibetan settlement.Visit the wonderful monastery and interact with monks found everywhere in the city at all age groups. Then resume your drive to Coorg and check into the hotel.Later in the afternoon plantation visit to see coffee, pepper and cardamom, among others, being grown. Overnight in Coorg.

  • Day 4 : Coorg - Tala Kaveri - Coorg

    This day you will be on a day excursion to the source of the Mighty River Cauvery,called Tala Kaveri, the holiest in South India.The exact location where the River originates is marked by a small temple, frequented by tourists and devotees.Enjoy the scenic surroundings at Tala Kaveri. Return to hotel for overnight stay. Overnight in Coorg.

  • Day 5 : Coorg - Nagarhole

    Depart Coorg after breakfast and drive to Kabini, on the fringes of Nagarhole National Park. Check in at your lodge or tented camp on arrival and relax for a while. Later take your first safari into the Park in the late afternoon. Overnight at Kabini/Nagarhole.

  • Day 6 : Nagarhole

    Morning and afternoon safaris into Nagarhole National Park. We recommend a combination of vehicle and boat safaris- the latter take place on Kabini Lake and offer a great chance to see herds of elephants as they come to the water’s edge to drink. Vehicle safaris take you deep into the forest.

    Nagarhole NP is part of the huge Nilgiri Biosphere, the largest area of protected habitat in southern India, which comprises National Parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries in all 3 southern states- Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The Biosphere supports populations of most of India’s iconic species- tigers, leopards, sloth bears, elephants, a wide array of antelope and deer species and countless smaller mammals and birds. Overnight at Kabini/Nagarhole

  • Day 7 : Nagarhole - Bangalore Depart

    Final safari at first light, then drive back to Bangalore for departure in the evening.
