Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary
Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1972 as a protected area and is located in the Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh. Its primary goals were to preserve the area's rich biodiversity and offer a safe haven for a variety of wildlife species, such as the Indian leopard, spotted deer, sambar deer, wild boar, and several bird species. Under Project Tiger, the Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary and the Dudhwa National Park were designated as tiger reserves. The sanctuary is a significant component of the Terai Arc Landscape, covering an area of around 227 square kilometres. The Sharda River not only flows through the Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary but also forms the boundary of numerous other protected areas as it flows through the district. The river's existence enhances the sanctuary's ecological significance by supplying water supplies and sustaining a variety of fauna. The river and the wetlands to which is connected to support biodiversity and provide tourists with beautiful surroundings.
