Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary
Chapramari wildlife sanctuary is situated in the jalpaiguri district and is known for its rich flora and fauna. The sanctuary is almost covered by 960 hectares of dense forests, is a continuation of the gorumara national park and is separated by the Murti River. The mammals you can spot here are like leopards, elephants, gaurs, and unique types of deer and birds and it is one of the oldest reserves in the state.
Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary was declared in 1988 and is also known for its huge elephant population. You can spot different types of birds like green magpie,Indian treepie,white-breasted kingfisher,mynas and so on. The watchtower is the perfect spot to get a glimpse of resident and migratory birds on the bank of the river. You can easily spot mammals on the riverbed both morning and evening. Also in the forest bungalow, there is a small pond where you can easily spot the animals. To visit the Chapramari Watchtower and experience the stunning wildlife and forest, the forest department offered jeep safaris, and most of the forest is covered by trees like shishu, teak, Sal and so on.
