History of Lake Pichola -

Constructed by Pichhu Banjara, a member of the gypsy tribes, during the reign of Maharana Lakha in 1362 AD, the Pichola Lake spans 3 miles in length, 2 miles in width, and reaches a depth of 30 feet. The name 'Pichola' translates to 'backyard', paying homage to the nearby village of 'Picholi'. Maharana Udai Singh was so captivated by the lake's beauty that he chose its banks as the site for the enchanting city of Udaipur.
