Karnataka Government Museum
The Government museum is situated in Bangalore and was established in 1877. It's an archaeological and heritage museum. The jail building at the cantonment served as the museum's original location. It operated there for thirteen years, until 1978. For the new museum, the existing museum's location was chosen. Col. Richard Hieram Sankey, the Chief Engineer of Mysore State at the time, designed and constructed the existing building in 1877. The museum holds exceptional significance as it is the second oldest in South India and among the oldest in all of India. The unique feature of the museum is that they have ancient coins and art that have been beautifully displayed, with a total of 1834 coin collections. It’s the 19th–20th century’s coins. A view of various objects, such as tiny paintings, sculptures, fabrics, South Indian jewellery, coins, paintings, icons, and inscriptions, is also visible.
